1. Caribbean Croft – Stokes Croft, Bristol

Within the hustle and bustle of Stokes Croft, you’ll find Caribbean Croft, a perfectly situated relaxed local restaurant and bar serving authentic recipe Caribbean food packed full of West Indian flavours. The huge selection of rum alone is enough to tickle your fancy, and compliments the fantastic menu perfectly if we do say so ourselves… Did someone say Curry Goat and a Jamaican Mule?

2. Glen’s Kitchen – St. Pauls, Bristol

Having recently featured on BBC 2’s ‘Remarkable Places to Eat’ with Michele Roux and Fred Sirieix, Glen’s Kitchen is a true gem in the heart of St. Paul’s serving proper Jamaican cuisine, including all the firm favourites. Glen has been cooking up a storm for the local community in Bristol for over 30 years, but for him it’s about more than just food, it’s about cohesion within the local Jamaican community, so there really is no excuse not to visit.

3. Rice & Things – Stokes Croft, Bristol

Another fantastic eatery serving authentic Jamaican dishes in Stokes Croft – Rice & Things is an award winning restaurant that strives to bring traditional, tasty and heartwarming food to its customers. The Chef behind the wonderful cuisine arrived here in the UK 21 years ago and has since made it his mission to bring together the different communities in Bristol through a shared love of food, his dishes represent the food eaten in Jamaica when he was a child – all of which are still firm favourites there today! So make sure you head on down to try some of their famed smoke pit BBQ Jerk Chicken, especially good on a hot summer’s day.

4. Fi Real – Old Market, Bristol

When people think of Jamaican food their first thought is normally Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat or Oxtail Stew, but not here… Fancy some plant-based Caribbean goodness? Fi Real is a true superstar establishment and not only because it’s delicious, but because it’s totally veggie/vegan. Situated in the heart of Old Market, this family run restaurant pride themselves on delivering healthy food without compromising whatsoever on flavour, they also offer a fantastic range of delicious homemade juices free from any colouring or preservatives.

5. St. Mary’s Kitchen – St. Andrews, Bristol

St. Mary’s Kitchen is another fabulous family-run restaurant that boasts some truly wonderful reviews from their happy customers. It is situated near the arches on Gloucester Road, offering authentic Jamaican food influenced by their roots all the way from the heart of St. Mary. They serve everything from Ackee and Saltfish to Oxtail Stew, and don’t forget your side of Festivals or Fried Plantain. One of the best bits, their menu offers a variety of vegan and Halal options, so there really is something for everyone!
